Accessibility

Many strict rules have been implemented by the government over the last 5 years so that those with disabilities are not discriminated against.
The Disability Discrimination Act recently came into force, stating all public businesses must provide wheelchair access and many building regulations for new homes also have strict guidelines regarding access for the disabled.
- The internet has not been excluded and with good reason
- 14% of the UK public are registered disabled Disability Rights Commission
- 1.6 million registered blind Employers Forum on Disability EFD and over 2 million UK residents have a sight problem Royal National Institute of the Blind RNIB
- 1 in 12 men and 1 in 200 women suffer from colour-blindness
- More than 12 million people in the UK are aged over 60
There is also much speculation that search engines may begin to penalize websites that are not built with accessibility in-mind and place them lower in their results.
